The National leadership of the Actors Guild of Nigerian, AGN has suspended indefinitely, Nollywood actor and producer, Shirley over acts regarded as violence, indiscipline and unbecoming of an actor of her standing in the industry.
Shirley Igwe was said to have neaten up a crew member working on the movie set she worked, and an altercation occurred, leading to her slapping the crew member and had to justify her indiscretion during a live video she made.
The Chief of Staff to the AGN National President, Ifeoma Okeke had in a video she made about the incident condemned the act, calling on the actor involved (without mentioning her name) pleaded for her to apologize to the crew member, asking the crew member to report the incident to appropriate authorities, which we believe is the outcome of this indefinite suspension placed on Shirley Igwe.
The suspension letter reads, "Following our preliminary investigation into the allegation of violence leveled against actress Shirley Igwe on a film set in Lagos, the National Executive Council (NEC) has resolved to place her on an indefinite suspension.
This suspension is due to her unprofessional misconduct, violence and indiscipline-actions capable of discreting the acting profession.
These offenses contravene the actors code of conduct and are punishable in accordance with AGN constitutional provisions.
Members of the AGN are hereby directed to refrain from participating in any film production involving her".
