President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that the country’s most challenging times are now behind it, assuring Nigerians that the nation is heading towards sustained development.
Tinubu made this statement on Tuesday during a one-day working visit to Imo State, where he inaugurated several of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s legacy projects, which included the Owerri-Umuahia Road, the Assumpta Flyover, and the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre in Owerri.
The President also officially launched a book written by Governor Uzodimma, titled “A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria.”
“Nigeria is no longer where it was 10 years ago. Today, I can confidently say that the worst is over. We have the Renewed Hope Agenda, and we have a book sponsored by Hope,” Tinubu said. “I thank you for your patience and perseverance. Nigeria is getting better.”
Citing recent economic developments, Tinubu pointed out that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.23% by the end of the second quarter of 2025, and that the inflation rate had fallen to 20.1%, down from 24.5% at the beginning of the year. He mentioned that foreign investors were becoming increasingly confident in Nigeria’s economy and urged citizens to maintain their trust in his government.
The President commended Governor Uzodimma for his foresight and also thanked the people of Imo State for the warm welcome he received.
In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised Uzodimma for preserving history through the publication of the book, describing him as a governor who delivers and is dedicated to developing quality infrastructure. He also applauded President Tinubu for introducing policies that have improved Nigerians’ living standards.
While welcoming the President, Governor Uzodimma explained that the book was the outcome of detailed research, capturing the journey of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the past ten years, including its achievements and challenges.
Uzodimma asserted that the APC had recorded notable progress in areas such as infrastructure, economic reforms, and agriculture. He described Tinubu as a leader with courage and vision, and noted that his own administration in Imo State had achieved progress in education, security, the welfare of civil servants, and infrastructural development.
