The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has pledged to intervene in the ongoing difficulties faced by Yoruba nation campaigner, Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, whose bank accounts were frozen by the Federal Government.
Igboho, together with his supporters, paid a visit to Ladoja at his Bodija residence in Ibadan on Monday, where both parties engaged in a 40-minute discussion.
According to a statement released by Igboho’s media office on Wednesday, the discussions focused on insecurity in the South-West, including attacks by bandits in parts of Kwara State, as well as Igboho’s unresolved issues with the Federal Government.
“The Olubadan promised to intervene on the challenges faced by Igboho, including his designation as a wanted person and the embargo placed on his bank accounts,” the statement read in part.
It should be recalled that in 2021, the Department of State Services, supported by military personnel, stormed Igboho’s residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, resulting in the death of two of his aides and the arrest of thirteen others, following accusations that he was hoarding weapons.
During the visit, Igboho extended his congratulations to Ladoja on his elevation to the throne, describing him as a respected leader throughout Ibadan and Yorubaland. He also declared his willingness to collaborate with the Federal Government to enhance security across the region.
“Olubadan has been a father figure to me since his time as governor.
His reign will no doubt further promote peace, unity, and development in Ibadanland and Yorubaland,” Igboho said.
