Police Yet To Receive Court Order On Tinted-Glass Permits – FPRO.

Benjamin Hundeyin.

The Nigeria Police Force has stated that it has not yet received the order from the Federal High Court halting the enforcement of tinted-glass permits.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this announcement on Saturday while responding to reports that the court had issued a directive preventing the police from arresting or prosecuting motorists for using tinted glass.

A Federal High Court had on Friday granted an order in Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025: John Aikpokpo-Martins v. Inspector-General of Police & Nigeria Police Force, instructing the police to suspend enforcement of tinted-glass permits pending the conclusion of the main case.

The court's order directed the police to maintain the status quo and refrain from taking action against motorists until the case is resolved.

However, Hundeyin, writing on X, stated that the police had not yet been formally served with the order.

“While we have not been officially served the court order you’re making reference to, let me, in the meantime, show point number eight (of the same order) since you left that part out and focused only on point number six. Nigerians deserve a complete picture, not a skewed one,” he wrote.

His clarification followed statements by human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong, who had shared a section of the ruling that restrained the police from enforcing the regulation.

The police had announced in April 2023 the resumption of the tinted-glass permit scheme under the Police Specialised Services Automation Project, following its suspension in 2022.
