The 25 schoolgirls taken from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, have been rescued.
Government and security insiders confirmed the development on Tuesday.
Sources revealed that the students are currently being moved to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi for medical evaluation and official debriefing.
“The girls have been freed. They’re on their way to the State House,” a senior official disclosed.
While the rescue has been verified, authorities have not yet released details on how the operation was executed.
Security personnel, however, indicated that the success was achieved through intensified joint operations involving the military, police, local vigilante groups, and intelligence teams searching forest routes around the area.
The schoolgirls were abducted on Monday, November 17, after gunmen attacked their boarding school in Maga.
