APC Chieftain Kidnapped In Ibadan.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Hon. Wale Oriade, has been abducted by suspected gunmen in Ibadan.

The incident reportedly occurred around 7:10 PM on Wednesday at PJ Square Shopping Complex, beside NNPC Elewure, Iyana Ajanla, Akala Express, New Garage, Ibadan, where Oriade runs his office.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a blue Micra with two occupants — a driver and a gunman — who forcefully seized the APC chieftain and drove off with him.

The swift and coordinated nature of the operation has created serious fear within the community.

Sources revealed that after the abduction, the victim was taken to an unknown location that could not be identified at the time of filing this report.

So far, no contact has been established, and no ransom demand has been made to his family or political associates.

Confirming the incident, the APC in Oyo State, in a statement signed by Hon. Mojeed Olaoya, Senatorial Chairman (Oyo South), and Hon. John Aremu, State Youth Leader, called for urgent intervention by the Nigeria Police Force.

The party urged the Police to immediately launch a swift and intelligence-driven rescue mission to ensure Hon. Oriade returns safely and unharmed.

The statement read, “A timely rescue will not only bring relief to Hon. Oriade’s family but also reassure the people of Oyo State that the Police Command remains proactive and committed to the protection of lives and property.

“The Oyo State APC appreciates the efforts of the Command in maintaining law and order and urges heightened vigilance during this critical time.”

Former Senate Leader and APC chieftain, Senator Teslim Folarin, also condemned the abduction, calling the development shocking and unacceptable.

He urged security agencies to intensify their efforts and secure Oriade’s immediate rescue.

“This is a deeply troubling development. I urge our security operatives to deploy all necessary intelligence and resources to secure his prompt release. My prayers are with his family during this difficult time,” the statement read in part.

Folarin further emphasised the need for stronger security collaboration across Oyo State to tackle rising kidnappings and urged residents to remain calm while providing credible information that could support the rescue effort.
