Farouk Ahmed has resigned from his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA.
The resignation occurred less than a day after Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, accused him of corruption.
Also stepping aside is Gbenga Komolafe, who headed the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, who said President Bola Tinubu has already selected new heads for both agencies.
Onanuga disclosed that the President has formally written to the Senate, seeking fast-track confirmation of the nominees.
Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan has been nominated to take over as Chief Executive Officer of the NUPRC, while Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed has been nominated as Chief Executive Officer of the NMDPRA.
The Presidency described both nominees as highly experienced professionals within the oil and gas industry.
