The Chairman and Founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has announced significant financial incentives for Nigeria’s Super Eagles following their 2–0 win over Algeria in the quarter-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
Rabiu made the announcement in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Saturday, where he praised the team’s performance, saying, “Congratulations to our Super Eagles players on a brilliant victory against Algeria! You have lifted the spirit of the nation, and we proudly cheer you on as you prepare for the semi-finals.”
The business mogul also unveiled performance-related rewards for the upcoming semi-final and final matches. He pledged USD $500,000 to the players if they emerge victorious in the semi-final, alongside an extra USD $50,000 for every goal scored. If Nigeria goes on to win the tournament, Rabiu promised a total of USD $1,000,000 in addition to USD $100,000 for each goal scored in the final.
He wrapped up his message by encouraging the players to keep flying the nation’s flag high. “Wishing you continued success as you carry Nigeria forward. Keep making Nigeria proud. Proudly Nigerian,” he added.
Nigeria booked their place in the semi-final after a dominant 2–0 victory over Algeria at the Stade de Marrakech on Wednesday.
Victor Osimhen broke the deadlock shortly after the restart before providing the assist for Akor Adams’ goal just before the hour mark, ensuring the Super Eagles maintained firm control of the encounter.
Osimhen, who was named man of the match, commended the collective effort of the squad. “For me, I just did my job. I tried to fight for the team and to get goals or assists, but the whole squad deserves praise,” he said.
The Super Eagles are set to take on host nation Morocco in the AFCON 2025 semi-final on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.a
