The Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over the murder of two of its members in Okigwe Local Government Area.
The victims, Esther Chimezie Ijeoma, a woman leader of Amosu Umulolo Ward, and Ambrose Ndukwe, were shot dead on Friday, January 30, 2026.
The party described the killings as a painful reminder of the ongoing security issues in the state.
According to the ADC, the protection of lives and property is the most basic duty of any government, and incidents like this bring questions about the effectiveness of safety measures.
The party called for a thorough investigation into the deaths and urged that the findings be made public promptly.
ADC also demanded that those responsible be quickly identified and prosecuted under the law to bring justice and prevent similar incidents.
The party urged leaders and security agencies to take decisive action to restore peace and ensure citizens feel safe in their communities.
