The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, said he has no role in the ongoing conflict between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his former mentor, Nyesom Wike.
He made this clear during a television interview on Tuesday, explaining the party’s position on the tensions in Rivers State.
Yilwatda noted that the dispute falls outside his responsibilities because Wike belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Fubara is a member of the APC. According to him, his role is limited to matters involving APC members.
He also addressed the impeachment process currently unfolding in the Rivers State House of Assembly, stressing that it concerns only APC legislators.
The assembly, he said, has its own internal procedures for resolving such issues, and party leaders are handling them internally.
The APC chairman called for careful and mature management of internal party affairs.
He pointed out that these matters should not be aired publicly and can be resolved within the party’s own structures.
He reassured that Wike does not pose a problem for the APC.
