The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast dust haze and cloudy conditions across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.
The agency said the northern region will experience dust haze throughout the period, with Borno and Yobe states seeing moderate haze reducing visibility to between 2 and 5 kilometers.
In the North Central states, slight dust haze is expected for the three days.
The southern region will have cloudy skies with occasional sunshine and some chances of morning thunderstorms in Akwa Ibom and Cross River. Later in the day, light rain and thunderstorms are likely in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom.
On Tuesday, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze across the north, while the North Central region will continue to see slight haze.
The southern region is expected to remain cloudy with breaks of sunshine and possible morning thunderstorms in parts of Akwa Ibom and Cross River. Afternoon thunderstorms with light rain will affect Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Bayelsa, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom.
By Wednesday, dust haze is expected to thicken in the northern and North Central regions. The southern region will continue to have cloudy skies with periods of sunshine, and morning thunderstorms may occur in Cross River and Akwa Ibom. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Bayelsa, Lagos, Ondo, Ogun, Edo, Cross River, Rivers, Delta, and Akwa Ibom.
NiMet warned that dust particles will remain in the air over the northern, North Central, and inland southern states. People with asthma or other breathing conditions should take precautions.
