Tinubu Reveals APC Leaders Of States.

 

President Bola Tinubu has stated that governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) are the leaders of their respective states. 

The declaration came during the formal reception of Governor Agbu Kefas into the APC in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima represented Mr. Tinubu at the event, announcing that Governor Kefas now leads the APC in Taraba following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.

The president expressed his intention to support Kefas and his team in advancing development across the state.

Mr. Tinubu noted that the governor is working to bring unity among the diverse communities in Taraba. 

He encouraged residents to back the governor and contribute to the progress of the state. 

The president welcomed the defection of a governor from the North-East and encouraged other states, including Adamawa and Bauchi, to join the APC.

The national chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yelwatda, praised Kefas for joining the party and said the move would help improve the state’s economy and create opportunities for youth and women. 

He assured that all APC members would have equal access to party activities and advised the governor to represent everyone fairly.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, represented by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril, said the governor’s decision would bring development, improve infrastructure, and strengthen security in Taraba.

Governor Kefas described his move to APC as a step for the benefit of the people rather than personal gain. 

He stated that his goal is to create jobs, support entrepreneurs, and serve the state with discipline and dedication. 

The governor thanked the APC for trusting him with the responsibility to address division, poverty, tribalism, and insecurity in Taraba.

Kefas originally won the governorship under the PDP in 2023, and his defection to the APC was completed in 2025, when he secured his membership registration card.
