2027: Akpabio Faces ADC Opposition As Sister-In-Law’s Posters Flood A/Ibom.

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections in 2027, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, may face opposition from his sister-in-law, Princess Pat Akpabio, wife of his cousin, Mr Ibanga Akpabio.

She had since declared to contest the Ikot Ekpene (Akwa Ibom North-West) Senatorial District seat against Senator Akpabio, citing alleged non-performance since returning to the National Assembly in 2023.

It was gathered, Princess Akpabio, would fight to wrest the slot from her brother-in – law on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Princess Akpabio had at several fora, declared the Senate President as not fulfilling the pre-election promises to his constituents in the run-up to the 2023 poll, describing his second stint at the Red Chamber, as uneventful and below par.

The duo had fought a bitter rhetorical war on social media over what observers believed stemmed from Senator Akpabio’s decision to starve his cousin’s family of funds and other freebies, forcing Princess Akpabio, to resort to some scathing hate remarks against the Senate President and his family.

The matter had reached the head when Princess Akpabio, declared to challenge the incumbent Senator Akpabio, vowing to floor him at the polls as, according to her, the electorates across the 10 local government areas of the Senatorial District, have lost confidence in his representation.
