Army Hits Turji’s Camps, Kills Dozens Of Bandits.

Troops of the Nigerian Army have carried out a successful operation against armed bandits loyal to Bello Turji, clearing several of his hideouts in Zamfara and Sokoto States.

The operation focused on locations in Fakai community, Shinkafi, and Isa Local Government Areas.

The mission, led by the 8 Division Strike Force based in Sokoto, began in the early hours of March 20, targeting Turji’s base deep within Kagara Forest.

During the advance, two military vehicles developed mechanical problems near Maberaya village in Isa, temporarily slowing the troops’ movement.

Bandits then attempted an ambush using the forest and elevated positions, but soldiers responded quickly and eliminated many of the attackers.

Three soldiers and a member of the Department of State Services were injured during the clash and were taken to the 8 Division Military Hospital in Sokoto for treatment.

Authorities also clarified that reports claiming over 150 bandits died in a boat accident in the Sabon Gida area are false.

The National Inland Waterways Authority confirmed the river is currently not navigable, ruling out any such incident.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to tackle banditry and restore security in affected communities.
