Doro Denies Senate Ambition.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, has dismissed reports claiming he plans to leave his current role to contest for the Plateau North senatorial seat.

The clarification comes after speculation spread that he might step down following a directive by Bola Ahmed Tinubu asking political appointees with interest in elective positions to resign. The report had listed Doro among those expected to join the race.

Reacting to the development, the minister’s aide, Jasper Adeleye, said there was no plan for such a move. He explained that the minister remains focused on his duties and has no intention of contesting for any seat at this time.

Adeleye noted that Doro was only recently appointed into the cabinet and is still settling into his responsibilities. According to him, it would not make sense for the minister to consider another political position so soon after taking office.

He added that Doro is committed to working with the current administration and contributing to its goals, especially in handling humanitarian issues and reducing poverty across the country.

The aide also explained that the rumours may have come from Doro’s earlier interest in the Plateau North senatorial race under the All Progressives Congress before his appointment as minister.

Despite that past interest, Adeleye said the minister is now fully focused on his present assignment and is not involved in any political contest plans. He warned that such speculation could distract from the work the ministry is doing and affect its progress.

He maintained that Doro has just begun his role in government and is determined to carry out his duties without any political distractions.
