The Edo State Internal Revenue Service has called on residents, professionals, and business owners across the state to submit their annual tax returns on or before March 31.
The notice was made public on Sunday by the Executive Chairman of the agency, John Odior, who warned that anyone who fails to comply may face penalties set by law.
He explained that filing tax returns is a legal duty that applies to a wide range of people working and doing business in the state.
According to the agency, the rule covers employees in both public and private sectors, business owners, entrepreneurs, online vendors, content creators, artisans, and others in the informal sector.
The directive is backed by provisions in Section 24(f) of the 1999 Constitution and Section 13 of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025.
The revenue service also announced that it has moved the process online to make it easier for taxpayers to meet the deadline without stress.
Individuals are expected to visit the official EIRS website to download Tax Form A and complete the required details.
The form must include a self-assessment, full income details from all sources within the past year, information on personal tax reliefs, and proper tax calculations.
Those running businesses are also required to attach their audited financial records, along with a valid taxpayer identification and proof of payment.
After completing the process, taxpayers are to send their forms through the official email provided by the agency.
The service warned that incomplete or false submissions, as well as refusal to file, will attract sanctions as stated in the tax law.
The agency further stated that tax payment plays a key role in funding development across the state.
It advised anyone who needs help or has questions to visit the nearest office or reach out through its support line.
