Federal High Court Announces Easter Vacation.

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has released the official timetable for its Easter vacation in 2026.

According to a circular issued by the Chief Judge of the court, John T. Tsoho, the holiday will begin on April 7, 2026, and end on April 13, 2026.

Regular court sittings across the divisions will start again on April 14, 2026.

The notice explained that the schedule replaces any other dates that may have been circulated earlier regarding the court’s Easter break.

It also directed judges, lawyers, and court users to take note of the approved timetable for the holiday period.

Despite the break, some judicial divisions will remain open to handle urgent cases.

Only matters considered pressing will be taken during the vacation period.

These include issues involving the protection of fundamental rights, cases relating to the arrest or release of vessels, and other matters considered to affect national interest.

All other routine cases will wait until the court resumes normal operations after the Easter holiday.

To ensure that urgent matters are handled during the vacation, some judges have been assigned to sit in selected divisions.

In the Abuja division, Emeka Nwite and Musa S. Liman will oversee cases that arise during the break.

In the Lagos division, the judges responsible for vacation matters are Akintayo Aluko and Ogazi F. Nkemakonam.

For the Port Harcourt division, Phoebe M. Ayua and Adamu T. Mohammed have been appointed to handle urgent applications.

Meanwhile, the Enugu division will have Mabel T. Segun-Bello attending to matters that require immediate attention during the Easter break.
