Former Senator Dumps ADC.

Former senator for Adamawa Central, Abdulaziz Nyako, has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), ending his brief stint with the opposition party.

Abdulaziz Nyako, popularly known as “Commander”, announced his decision on Sunday, citing unresolved factional disputes within the ADC in Adamawa State as a key factor behind his exit.

The former lawmaker, who represented Adamawa Central in the 8th National Assembly, had only joined the ADC months ago after leaving the APC. His return marks another shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of the next election cycle.

Confirming the development, Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, said the move was part of efforts to strengthen the ruling party’s structure.

Fintiri, who recently took control of the APC structure in the state, told journalists that bringing Nyako back into the fold was a strategic decision.

According to him, leaders with political experience and grassroots influence remain critical to consolidating the party’s position in Adamawa.

He also confirmed that Nyako has completed the formalities of joining the APC and is now a card-carrying member of the party.

Former Senator Nyako is the son of ex-Adamawa State Governor Murtala Nyako.
