Four people lost their lives in a late-night road accident on the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway in Ogun State.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. on Monday at the Ijebu-Imushin section of the highway.
The accident involved a white Toyota Hiace bus and a blue MAN Diesel truck owned by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc. Preliminary reports indicate that the bus collided with the truck while speeding.
The truck had been stationary on the road after the towing chain holding it snapped. The driver of the towing vehicle left the scene after the incident.
All four occupants of the bus, two men and two women, died at the scene. There were no other injuries reported.
Rescue teams arrived within minutes and moved the victims to the State Hospital mortuary in Ijebu Ode. Police officers have taken control of the vehicles and started a detailed investigation into the crash.
Officials are urging drivers to follow speed limits, especially at night, and to make sure towing equipment is safe to prevent similar tragedies.
