Makinde Takes Action On Wike.

Wike & Makinde.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has withdrawn a road naming honour he gave to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The 8.3-kilometre Phase II Idi-Ape/Akobo-Olorunda Abaa road in Ibadan, originally named after Wike in June 2023, has now been renamed after Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu.

The road was first named after Wike before the two politicians, once allies during the 2023 general elections, disagreed over the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Wike now leads one faction of the party while Makinde, along with Bauchi State’s governor, heads another faction. Wike recently won a Court of Appeal ruling related to the party dispute.

The change has sparked reactions online, with some criticizing Makinde for removing the honour and calling the move unnecessary, while others supported his decision, saying it was overdue.
