The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a large shipment of cocaine hidden inside the heads of imported dry fish, also known as “Okporoko,” destined for India.
The discovery followed intelligence reports on a drug trafficking network operating across borders.
Acting on the information, NDLEA officers from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Strategic Command carried out an operation in the Ojo area of Lagos on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
During the raid, 36-year-old Akputa Dickson Ejike, believed to be a key figure in the network, was arrested.
Officers found three large bags containing a total of 237 wraps of cocaine hidden inside the fish heads.
The drugs weighed 5.80 kilograms and were reportedly meant for delivery to Delhi, India.
Investigations are ongoing as the NDLEA works to dismantle the network behind the smuggling operation and prevent future attempts to traffic drugs internationally.
