Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Political Matters, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has warned that Nigeria is facing more serious challenges now than when Tinubu assumed office in 2023.
Speaking in an interview on Trust TV on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed said the country’s situation from the economy to security has worsened. “We are in deeper trouble than when you came”.
“Vi%lence is becoming a lot more serious than we anticipated. Three years into President Tinubu’s presidency, we’re seeing an escalation in both the pattern of vi%lence and its impact on our people that we’ve never seen before,” he stated.
Baba-Ahmed emphasized that Tinubu came to power promising to end insecurity, improve living conditions, and make life safer for Nigerians. “The president himself would admit that he has failed to do this, to live up to the promises he has made and to make Nigerians safe,” he added.
He also criticized the timing of recent government activities, recalling the President’s state visit to the United Kingdom, which was described as festive by media reports.
“It occurred just days after one of the most horrendous att@cks in Borno state, a few days before the departure of this huge contingent that the President led,” Baba-Ahmed lamented.
