Nigeria has been listed as the fourth most affected country by terrorism in the world, according to the latest Global Terrorism Index (GTI) report.
The report shows that violent attacks and deaths from terrorism rose sharply across the country in 2025.
Data from the GTI indicate that terrorist attacks reached 171 incidents during the year, marking a clear increase from the previous year.
Deaths and injuries connected to these attacks also grew, reflecting worsening security challenges despite ongoing government efforts to fight terrorism.
Experts say the rise is linked to more aggressive actions by extremist groups and growing violence in certain regions.
These developments contributed to Nigeria’s higher position in global rankings, placing it among the countries most affected by terrorist activity based on attacks, fatalities, injuries, and impact on communities.
