Members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shiites, took to the streets of Niger State on Sunday to protest reports of the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The group, led in Nigeria by Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, mobilised shortly after news of Khamenei’s alleged d+ath in coordinated airstr+kes reportedly carried out by the United States and Israeli military began circulating on social media.
In a video seen on Sunday, dozens of IMN members were observed chanting solidarity slogans, including “Freedom to Iran” and other protest messages.
The demonstrators marched through parts of Niger State, waving Iranian flags and holding placards with inscriptions such as “We Stand With Iran.”
