Why February Salary Is Being Delayed - FG.

The Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF) has begun paying February 2026 salaries to federal workers on the treasury payment system.

The payments started on Monday, March 2, after a short delay caused by a technical issue in the payment system.

The problem has been fixed, and steps have been taken to prevent it from happening again.

This development means that thousands of civil servants across federal ministries, departments, and agencies will now start receiving their salaries for February.

In addition, the OAGF has completed the payment of one month of the outstanding wage award arrears owed to federal workers.

The payment was released after obtaining the necessary approval to begin clearing the arrears, representing one of the three months still pending.

The wage award was introduced as a temporary support measure for workers following economic reforms that increased living costs.

In August 2025, the government began paying the second tranche of the ₦35,000 wage award arrears. This award was established after the removal of petrol subsidies and other economic changes that affected household expenses.

The phased payment of ₦35,000 per month will continue until all outstanding arrears are fully settled.

The OAGF explained that this approach allows the government to meet its commitments to workers while managing financial obligations.
