The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Zamfara Statr, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki, has resigned from his position following Governor Dauda Lawal’s move to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Madawaki’s decision was driven by his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which he says he has no plans to leave.
Madawaki said he chose to resign voluntarily, rejecting claims that he was forced to step down.
He explained that his resignation was a personal choice made out of respect for his party affiliation. Governor Lawal has accepted Madawaki’s resignation.
Following the resignation, the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, directed that Abdulmalik Abubakar Gajam, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, will temporarily oversee the Ministry of Education.
This development comes after Governor Lawal and his deputy, Mani Malam Mummuni, officially left the PDP for the APC, bringing several members of the state executive council with them.
The PDP flag was removed from the Zamfara Government House in a ceremony attended by the deputy governor and other cabinet members, marking a major shift in the state’s political leadership.
