Eight lawmakers from the NNPP have officially joined the APC in a ceremony held at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The move was confirmed by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf through his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, who said the lawmakers decided to leave their party due to internal disagreements.
The lawmakers who switched parties include Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, Garba Ibrahim Diso, Hassan Shehu Hussain, Idris Dankawu, Muhammad Chiroma Nalaraba, Rabiu Yusuf, Dr. Ghali Mustapha Tijjani, and Muhammad Bello Shehu.
The event drew the presence of former APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar-Ganduje and the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin.
Governor Yusuf described the shift as part of the normal democratic process, noting that political changes are common in a dynamic system.
He reiterated that his administration remains focused on delivering services and development to the people of Kano, regardless of party affiliations.
The governor also called for unity and teamwork among elected officials to advance the state’s growth and welfare.
