The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the final forfeiture of ₦3,444,000,000 (Three Billion, Four Hundred and Forty-Four Million Naira) and three luxury properties linked to Salihu Nuhu Jamari, a former Managing Director of the NNPC’s Gas and Power Investment Company Limited (NGPIC).
Presiding Judge, Justice J.O Abdulmalik, delivered the ruling on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, marking a significant victory for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its ongoing crusade against institutional corruption.
The court's order covers high-value real estate across Nigeria’s most expensive districts, including: An uncompleted six-bedroom semi-detached duplex with boys’ quarters located at Plot 3168, Asokoro District, Abuja, a two-bedroom luxury flat (Apartment AI, Block EFG) at Osborne 11, Ikoyi, Lagos, a commercial restaurant located at Plot 102, Cadastral Zone C09, Abuja,
The forfeiture follows a motion on notice filed on March 17, 2026, by EFCC lead
counsel, Ekele Iheanacho, SAN.
The case originated from a whistleblower petition dated April 28, 2025,
which accused Jamari of orchestrating a web of conspiracy, bribery and money
laundering during his tenure at the NGPIC.
According to the anti-graft agency, investigations revealed that Jamari
allegedly leveraged his position to secure kickbacks from three major
contractors awarded projects by the NNPC.
These alleged illicit funds were said to have been funneled through his private
companies — Cumulus Energy Limited and Pius and Phillips Petroleum Limited,
where he served as both a director and a signatory.
The court had previously granted an interim forfeiture order on February 25,
2026, allowing interested parties a window to contest the seizure.
However, with no valid claims presented to justify the source of the wealth,
Justice Abdulmalik ruled that the EFCC’s application possessed overwhelming
merit.
