Tola Odutoka has sparked conversation online after calling out what he describes as “unrealistic” expectations among young women in today’s dating scene.
Speaking candidly, the pastor said he feels sorry for many young men, arguing that the kind of lifestyle demands being placed on them are often beyond their means.
“I pity a lot of young men today,” he said.
According to him, requests like luxury vacations and business class flights are becoming common, but are things “only s¥gar d@ddies can afford,” not average young men trying to build their future.
He questioned where such expectations are coming from, pointing out that many people demanding high-end experiences didn’t grow up with that kind of lifestyle.
“Who introduced you to business class?” he repeatedly asked, stressing that people often desire what they’ve become used to.
Odutoka warned that this mindset could create serious problems in relationships, especially marriage. He explained that entering a union with already inflated expectations can lead to disappointment when reality doesn’t match fantasy.
“We have to be very careful, because once you get this, you bring it into the marriage, then you are going to be having expectation failure,” Odutola emphasized.
The cleric urged young people to be more realistic and mindful, noting that financial pressure and unmet expectations are a fast track to relationship breakdown.
