Pastor Olumide Emmanuel has responded strongly to criticisms directed at church leaders. Addressing the issue, the cleric questioned why churches are condemned for establishing schools with church funds, even when such institutions operate as structured systems.
He argued that many critics fail to recognize that these schools also serve as revenue-generating platforms that sustain operations and ensure that teachers and professors are paid.
He further defended the impact of major ministries, pointing to their infrastructural achievements. According to him, facilities like Redeem Camp and Canaan Land enjoy uninterrupted power supply, something he says governments have failed to provide for decades despite vast national resources.
“How can they use church money to start a school and the church members cannot afford it? Let me help your f%%lishness,” he said. “Many of these pastors you speak against, what they’re doing, your presidents and governors haven’t done it in 60 years of your existence.”
He added, “Go to Redeem Camp today, there’s 24 hours electricity forever. Go to Winners Canaan Land today, there’s 24 hours electricity forever, and yet in your own country, after they’ve st%len you blind, they can’t give you 5,000 megawatts and yet you’re ins¥lting pastors.”
Pastor Emmanuel also argued that the country could experience better development if run with similar efficiency. “The country would be better if they run it like Canaan Land and Redeem Camp, we will have free education and free light,” he stated.
Defending the financial structure of church-owned institutions, he said, “We use church money to start a school, that school becomes a capital to generate revenue. Teachers and professors will get paid, so what are you saying?”
He concluded by criticizing detractors, saying, “People that haven’t achieved anything in their life is telling church how to run things.”
