Popular Fuji Singer, Saheed Osupa Admits Using ‘Juju’ For Success.

Popular Fuji singer Saheed Osupa has stirred reactions after saying he relies on juju to improve his life and achieve success.

The statement came during a stage performance at the 52nd birthday celebration of veteran actor Fatai Odua, widely known as Lalude, held on March 30, 2026.

A video from the event began trending online on Wednesday, showing the singer speaking to his backup singers while performing.

During the show, Osupa told his team to consider using spiritual means to help their memory as they struggled to keep up with his performance.

He went further to explain that such practices, in his view, are not meant for harm but for personal progress and well-being.

The Fuji star also revealed that he had once been advised to deny involvement in such practices during an interview but chose not to follow that advice.

According to him, he sees nothing wrong in admitting it since, as he claimed, he has not used it for wrongdoing but only to improve his life. He added that he regularly pays respect to Ifa and believes it plays a role in his journey.

Osupa also made it clear that he does not agree with the idea that success can come from ordinary means alone, suggesting instead that spiritual efforts are part of what has helped him.

He further claimed that many people engage in similar practices, though some prefer to keep it private.

His comments have, however, drawn criticism from different quarters, especially among Islamic clerics who disagreed with his position.

Some of them rejected the claim that everyone engages in such practices and urged him to reconsider his stance.

One cleric on social media distanced himself from the idea, advising the singer to turn fully to God and stop promoting traditional practices, especially considering the influence he has on followers.

Another critic argued that Osupa’s lifestyle and career already show he does not strictly follow religious teachings, while a different commentator suggested that his statement shows a lack of regard for God.

In response to the backlash on Tuesday, Osupa said he has never spoken against any holy book.

He stated that he believes in both Jesus and Prophet Muhammad but expressed concern over what he described as insincere religious behaviour among many people.

Despite the criticism, the singer did not withdraw his earlier statement about using juju. He also did not directly address the individual clerics who spoke against him.

Before now, Osupa has often mentioned during performances that he had encounters with spiritual figures in his search for success.
