Singer Habeeb Okikiola, widely known as Portable, has voiced strong criticism of Nigerian pastors for remaining silent as Christians face attacks in the country.
His comments came after a reported assault on worshippers in Jos, Plateau State, on Palm Sunday, which has sparked fresh concern about targeted violence against Christians.
Portable condemned pastors for focusing on their personal safety, pointing out that many travel in bulletproof vehicles while their members continue to face deadly attacks.
He questioned why religious leaders have not organized protests or taken firm action in response to these killings, describing the silence as troubling and disappointing.
He also noted that leaders from other faiths might act more decisively if their followers were threatened in a similar way.
Speaking in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin, Portable expressed frustration over what he sees as a lack of leadership and protection from Christian clerics during repeated incidents of violence.
