The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has said the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, is at liberty to become a member of the ruling party if he chooses.
Yilwatda spoke during a media chat on Wednesday, explaining that the APC does not force anyone to join. He said joining the party is a personal decision and anyone interested is free to come in without pressure.
He also addressed claims that appointments made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are linked to party loyalty. According to him, there is no rule that says anyone must belong to the APC before being given a role in government.
He explained that some individuals who once spoke against the president are now part of his administration, showing that political differences do not stop people from being considered for appointments.
Yilwatda added that the president has shown a willingness to work with different people, including those who had earlier opposed him, instead of shutting them out.
