A 30-year-old woman, identified as Esua Ayibe, has died after she was reportedly attacked by unidentified persons in Benin City, Edo State.
According to relatives, Esua had gone to Ujo Street in the Ogida area to assist a friend in decorating a funeral venue free of charge.
After completing the job, she reportedly remained within the area when she was suddenly attacked.
Family members said the assault left her with severe inj¥ries, and she was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) for treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel to save her life, she later d+ed from her inj¥ries.
Her remains have since been deposited in the mortuary.
Relatives described Esua as a quiet and hardworking decorator who was well known for handling funeral and event decorations in the area.
They have called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure those responsible are arrested and prosecuted.
As of the time of filing this report, no arrest had been made and no suspect had been identified.
