This was contained in a statement issued Sunday night by Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council Sokoto, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu.
The announcement marks the beginning of the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, a significant period during which Muslims across the world perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage and prepare for the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The Sultanate Council urged Muslims in Nigeria and beyond to use the sacred month for prayers, sacrifice, and acts of charity for peace, unity, and progress in the country.
Junaidu, in the statement, called on the Muslim faithful to uphold the teachings of Islam and continue to pray for national stability and harmony.
