Terrorism Has Drastically Reduced Across Nigeria - Defence Minister.

The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, says terrorist activities in Nigeria have significantly declined, rating the country’s ongoing security efforts at about 65 to 70 percent.

He made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, noting that no country is completely free from crime and other forms of criminality.

According to him, although incidents of terrorism and kidnapping still occur, there has been a marked improvement compared to previous years.

Musa linked some of the insecurity challenges to the erosion of family values and weak social orientation in society. He argued that many of those involved in kidnapping and related crimes are driven by a desire for quick wealth rather than honest hard work.

He also raised the possibility that some criminal acts may be politically motivated, suggesting they could be intended to portray the government as ineffective or to create a sense of national instability.

Despite the challenges, the Defence Minister stressed that the armed forces and other security agencies remain committed and are working relentlessly to curb insecurity across the country.

Quoting him, he said: “Yes, I’ll give ourselves 65 to 70 percent score. No nation is totally free from crime and criminality, but the level of te+rorism across the country has actually drastically reduced.”

He added that terrorism is a social problem rooted in declining family values, citing disturbing cases of family members being involved in k+dn@pping.
