According to a reports sighted by "News PlatformNG", former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is reportedly set to become the running mate of the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar.
This development was confirmed to Daily Post on Saturday by Leader Sampson, the immediate past chairman of the ADC in Rivers State, who indicated that Amaechi has accepted the role when asked about the arrangement, responding simply, “yes.”
Amaechi, who previously contested in the ADC presidential primary, lost the ticket to the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar. Ahead of the primary, he had publicly stated that his intention in purchasing the party’s presidential form was not to end up as a vice presidential candidate.
Following the primary election, Amaechi also strongly rejected the outcome, with some aggrieved party members alleging that the process was manipulated in favour of Atiku.
Despite earlier opposition to the result, recent indications from party insiders suggest a shift in position, with reports now pointing to his acceptance of the vice presidential slot alongside Atiku.
