The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of the state, Arc. Audu Sule Katagum.
Katagum reportedly died early Monday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja. His passing, the governor said, has created a significant vacuum in both the political and traditional leadership structures of Bauchi State.
In a condolence message, Governor Mohammed described the late Katagum as a loyal and patriotic public servant who devoted his life to serving humanity with humility, discipline, and dignity.
He highlighted Katagum’s contributions while serving as Deputy Governor during the administration of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, noting his role in promoting governance and stability in the state. The governor also praised his service as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, under the current administration, where he was credited with advancing institutional development and public service delivery.
Beyond politics, Mohammed noted that Katagum was an accomplished architectural engineer whose professional expertise contributed to Bauchi State’s infrastructural and environmental development. He said his work helped shape sustainable projects that continue to benefit communities across the state.
The governor extended condolences to the family, associates, and the people of Bauchi State, describing the late statesman’s legacy as one that will endure through his contributions to governance, education, and development.
