Grammy-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, has become the African artiste with the most entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart, surpassing fellow Nigerian singer Tems.
Before the latest update, both artists were tied with eight entries each on the prestigious U.S. chart. However, Burna Boy has now moved ahead with his ninth entry.
The milestone came through his collaboration with Colombian pop star Shakira on the official FIFA World Cup song titled “Dai Dai”, which reportedly debuted at No. 75 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track’s global visibility was further boosted by a live performance at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Mexico.
With this achievement, Tems now holds the second-highest number of Billboard Hot 100 entries among African artistes.
The “Last Last” hitmaker has also set another milestone, becoming the first African artiste to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, reflecting a sustained global chart presence since 2021.
His chart history includes appearances on tracks such as “Loved By You” (2021), “Last Last” (2022), “Sitting On Top of the World” and “Talibans II” (2023), “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” (2024), “WGFT” (2025), and “Only You” alongside “Dai Dai” in 2026.
Beyond chart performance, Burna Boy has also reportedly reached a new streaming peak, surpassing 40 million monthly listeners on Spotify, marking another milestone in his growing international profile.
