The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has secured a warrant for the arrest of Uche Nnaji, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, over allegations linked to certificate forgery.
A Federal High Court in Abuja granted the order following an ex parte motion filed by the anti-graft agency in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1160/2026.
According to court filings, the ICPC is investigating allegations that Nnaji submitted falsified academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) credentials during his ministerial screening and confirmation process. The former minister was appointed by President Bola Tinubu in August 2023 but later resigned after the allegations surfaced.
In its application dated June 3 and filed on June 4, the ICPC included an affidavit sworn by one David Nelson. Counsel to the commission, Osuobeni Akponimisingha, told the court that repeated attempts to invite Nnaji for questioning had been unsuccessful, prompting the request for a bench warrant.
The commission further sought an order to declare the former minister wanted through national newspapers, social media platforms, and other media channels, citing his alleged refusal to honour investigative invitations.
ICPC also requested authorisation for its operatives, alongside other law enforcement agencies or private citizens, to locate and arrest him for questioning.
The court granted all prayers sought by the commission, ruling that the warrant will remain in force until Nnaji is arrested.
Nnaji has recently emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State ahead of the 2027 elections.
