Media personality Daddy Freeze has responded to Big Brother Naija star Cross “Da Boss” Okonkwo following a heated exchange on social media over his continued criticism of Nigerian pastors and religious leaders.
The online feud intensified on Sunday, June 14, after Cross publicly told the broadcaster to “shut up” and stop attacking Christian clerics, insisting that he should refrain from speaking unless he had something positive to say about Jesus Christ or men of God.
The controversy stemmed from a video posted by Daddy Freeze in which he questioned the actions of prominent religious figures who attended the Service of Songs held in honour of late actor Alexx Ekubo.
In the video, Freeze specifically referenced gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze, both of whom reportedly disclosed during the service that they had planned to meet with Ekubo a day before his death. He questioned why the clergymen were unable to heal the actor if they possessed the spiritual gifts often attributed to them.
Reacting to the remarks, Cross criticized the media personality on X, urging him to stop making disparaging comments about Christian leaders and the faith.
Unmoved by the criticism, Daddy Freeze fired back with a bold public challenge, offering to pay ₦50 million to Cross—or to any non-governmental organisation (NGO) nominated by him—if he could present a Nigerian pastor capable of healing a medically certified cripple in the same manner Jesus Christ performed miracles in the Bible.
Freeze also addressed possible questions about his own religious affiliations and his relationship with Pastor Tobi Adegboyega, clarifying that neither of them claims to possess miraculous healing powers.
According to him, both he and Pastor Adegboyega are “scripture teachers” rather than miracle-working ministers, and therefore do not fall within the scope of the challenge.
