Damilola James Expresses Gratitude After Emergence As Lagos APC Deputy Governorship Candidate.



The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Damilola James, has expressed appreciation to God, party leaders, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and supporters following her selection for the 2026 election race.

James said her emergence represents divine favour and a reflection of the opportunities available within Lagos politics. She described it as proof of the state’s long-standing tradition of political inclusion and development-focused leadership.

She noted that her nomination is a reminder of the possibilities available to residents of Lagos State and expressed hope that her journey will inspire women and young people to pursue leadership roles.

She also appreciated the leadership of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending his role in strengthening democratic governance and economic direction in the country. She further acknowledged the support of the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.

James extended her gratitude to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife, party leaders, and members of the All Progressives Congress across the state for their support during the selection process.

She also recognised the contribution of the party’s Governance Advisory Council and traditional leaders, community groups, youth organisations and women leaders who played roles in her political journey.

Reflecting on her past political engagement, James appreciated the people of Badagry and Badagry West, noting that their support has remained a source of encouragement throughout her public service experience.

She dedicated her emergence to women, youths and aspiring leaders in Lagos State, saying her candidacy is meant to encourage wider participation in governance.

James added that she looks forward to working closely with the APC governorship candidate, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, to continue developmental projects and strengthen governance in Lagos State.

She also expressed optimism about continued peace, progress and stability in the state and across Nigeria.
