Emeka Ike has filed a lawsuit against the Independent National Electoral Commission and Lere Olayinka, alleging a breach of his privacy following the circulation of his voter registration details on social media.
The Nollywood actor is seeking ₦10 billion in damages, claiming that his personal information was unlawfully exposed after screenshots of his voter registration transfer process were shared on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the suit, Ike argues that the publication of the documents violated his right to privacy and caused reputational harm. He is asking the court to hold both INEC and Olayinka responsible, order the immediate removal of the post, and compel a public apology.
The case follows earlier comments from INEC, which stated that the incident was not caused by an external hack but rather the misuse of internal access credentials, raising concerns about data handling and security within the electoral body’s systems.
