Emeka Ike Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Exposure Of Personal Data By FCT Minister’s Aide.

Actor and politician Emeka Ike has announced plans to take action against Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, following allegations that his personal data was publicly shared from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

Ike, who contested for the House of Representatives seat for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), lost the election. After the results, Olayinka reportedly shared what appeared to be Ike’s voter information via an INEC administrative webpage.

On his X account on Saturday, Olayinka posted that Ike was previously a registered voter in Imo State before transferring his registration to the FCT, writing:

“Emeka Ike was a registered voter in Imo State. He only transferred his INEC Registration to the FCT on May 15, 2026 (15 days ago). And he wants to contest for House of Reps in Abuja! Someone who has never voted in the FCT o. What happened to his Imo State? This Obidient people enh!!!”

The post included two images that many social media users said contained sensitive details obtained from INEC’s administrative portal, including Ike’s application number, registration center, Voter Identification Number, profile picture, name, and date of application.

Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Tuesday, Ike described the actions as “shocking” and an example of political misconduct.

“It is the height of political rascality for a government officer to access a citizen’s information from the INEC system. It shows how much impunity exists and that people have access to things they shouldn’t. This is deplorable and a huge insult to every political party and every Nigerian,” Ike said.

He added, “He is telling every Nigerian that whoever you are, I can pull your information from anywhere and do what I want. That rascality needs to be stopped.”

Ike confirmed he is prepared to take legal action against Olayinka, stating, “Actions are ready, I’m ready to take him on. He has no right to exploit my privacy and insult Nigerians the way he did. If he has been doing it in the past, this should be the last time he does it.”

The actor also explained why he chose to contest for a seat in the FCT rather than his home state.

“I actually wanted to run in my state, but a couple of people approached me, calling it a clarion call. They insisted that I contest in Abuja to address relevant local issues. Considering the surge and the issues they brought, I decided to shift to Abuja,” Ike said.
