The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into a suspected homicide after a heavily pregnant woman, identified as Alice, died following a physical altercation with a woman named Grace Kasimu on May 31.
Preliminary findings by the police indicate that Alice developed complications after the fight, reportedly began bleeding, and was rushed to Wuse General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her death.
Confirming the incident, the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the suspect has been arrested and is currently in police custody. She added that the investigation is ongoing and that the case has been directed by the Commissioner of Police to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
The police have appealed to members of the public to allow law enforcement to carry out a thorough investigation.
