Igboho Offers Security Support For Oyo Schools.

Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has offered to help strengthen security in public schools across Oyo State following recent attacks and kidnappings in some communities.

The activist, through his private security outfit, Iru Ekun Private Security Limited, wrote to the Oyo State Government expressing its readiness to deploy personnel to public schools across the state.

In a letter dated June 9, 2026, and addressed to the Commissioner for Education, with a copy sent to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, the security outfit requested information on public schools and their locations to aid the planned deployment.

According to the letter, the organisation intends to station at least two trained operatives in each public school identified by the government. The personnel would be responsible for monitoring school premises, controlling access points, working with school administrators and community vigilantes, and helping to prevent criminal attacks.

The proposal was jointly signed by Igboho and the legal adviser of the Iru Ekun Security Network, Junaid Sanusi.

The group said the initiative was part of its commitment to working with government agencies, traditional rulers and local communities to improve safety in schools across Oyo State.

It also advised the state government to consider fencing public schools, arguing that secured perimeters would make it easier for security personnel to protect school environments effectively.

While acknowledging efforts by the state government and security agencies to rescue victims of recent kidnappings, the outfit said preventive measures were needed to stop future attacks on schools.

The organisation further stated that it was willing to collaborate with the State Universal Basic Education Board, the Teaching Service Commission, school authorities and community leaders to develop a lasting security framework for public schools.

The offer comes weeks after gunmen attacked schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026. During the attacks, pupils and teachers were abducted from Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, Community Grammar School, and L.A. Primary School, Esiele.
