The Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the appointment of Anietie Iniedu as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the outgoing Force spokesperson, Anthony Placid, who described Iniedu as a seasoned officer with broad experience in public communication, operational policing, intelligence management, institutional accountability, and administration.
According to the statement, Iniedu hails from Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State and holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo. He has also undergone several professional trainings in areas including investigative interviewing, crime scene management, human rights-based policing, strategic communication, and intelligence analysis.
Before his new appointment, Iniedu served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he managed public complaints and led initiatives aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
He also previously served as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, alongside other operational and administrative roles across the country.
Iniedu takes over from Anthony Placid, who assumed the position of Force PRO in March 2026.
