Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps Arrests Over 15 Suspected Offenders Reselling Used Plastics.

Oeratives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (KAI) have arrested more than 15 individuals for allegedly collecting and reselling used disposable plastics and plates around the Jibowu railway corridor.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, revealed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. According to Wahab, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were retrieving used disposable plates and plastics from refuse bins and reselling them to food vendors operating in the area.

“Earlier today, operatives of KAI apprehended over 15 suspected environmental offenders around the Jibowu railway corridor for allegedly collecting and reselling used disposable plastics and plates recovered from refuse bins to food vendors,” the statement read.

The Commissioner emphasized that such activities pose serious public health risks and undermine sanitation efforts across Lagos State. Authorities have promised continued vigilance and enforcement to curb similar offenses and safeguard residents.
