The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents, parents and school authorities that there is no confirmed threat of a bandit attack or abduction of schoolchildren anywhere in the state.
The assurance followed reports of a notice allegedly pasted at a school, warning that bandits planned to attack and kidnap pupils.
The development sparked concerns among parents and residents.
In response, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, ordered the strengthening of security measures around the affected area and other key locations across the state.
Police officers and other security agencies have been mobilised to safeguard schools, communities and critical infrastructure.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said an assessment conducted by the command found no credible intelligence suggesting any imminent attack in Lagos.
She explained that while the police take every security concern seriously, there is currently no verified information indicating that such a threat exists.
According to the command, additional security arrangements have been put in place around vulnerable and strategic locations to prevent any possible security breach.
The police also maintained that Lagos remains safe and that security agencies are working continuously to keep criminal elements from operating within the state.
The command warned that it would not allow bandits, kidnappers or other criminals to threaten the peace and safety of residents.
It added that anyone found engaging in activities capable of causing fear, panic or insecurity would face the full weight of the law.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
The police also advised members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons, objects, movements or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency channels.
The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring residents that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain security across the state.
