Liverpool Agree Deal to Appoint Andoni Iraola as New Manager.

Liverpool have reached an agreement to appoint Andoni Iraola as their new manager, with the Spaniard set to succeed Arne Slot at Anfield.

The 43-year-old has reportedly finalized personal terms with the Premier League champions following intensive discussions over the past two days. His appointment comes just days after Liverpool parted ways with Slot, despite the Dutchman guiding the club to a Premier League title only 12 months ago.

Liverpool's hierarchy moved swiftly in their search for a replacement and quickly identified Iraola as their preferred candidate. Talks between the club and the outgoing Bournemouth manager accelerated over the weekend before an agreement was reached.

According to reports, Iraola is expected to bring Bournemouth assistant manager Tommy Elphick to Anfield as part of his coaching staff. Elphick, 38, recently turned down the opportunity to become Bristol City manager, fueling speculation about his future alongside Iraola.

Iraola has earned widespread praise for his work in management since beginning his coaching career with AEK Larnaca. He later enjoyed successful spells in Spain with Mirandés and Rayo Vallecano before making the move to England in 2023.

The former Athletic Bilbao defender replaced Gary O’Neil at Bournemouth and quickly transformed the club's fortunes. Under his leadership, the Cherries recorded 12th- and ninth-place finishes in his first two Premier League campaigns.

His most impressive achievement came last season when Bournemouth secured a sixth-place finish, earning qualification for the UEFA Europa League for the first time in the club’s history.

Iraola confirmed in April that he would leave Bournemouth at the conclusion of the season, prompting speculation about a move to one of England’s elite clubs. Liverpool have now secured his services as they prepare for a new era under the highly regarded coach.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth have already moved to fill the vacancy, appointing former RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose as Iraola’s successor.

An official announcement from Liverpool is expected in the coming days.
